We are a small village, surrounded by hills and with the River Ure along the dale.We are mainly sheep and cattle farming ,many of the dairy farms supplying the local cheese makers at Hawes which is world famous for Wensleydale cheese of Wallace and Gromit fame.
The scenery is spectacular whatever the weather and throughout the seasons there is something of interest to see.Footpaths for walkers are generally well marked and there is a vast network direct from the door.
Venturing further afield,The Lake District,Scottish Borders and other Yorkshire Dales are all easily visited within a day ,as is the East Coast and Moors.York,Harrogate and Carlisle(on the Settle to Carlisle Railway) are within a day's drive.
